Nomad players victorious in Vegas

Huge congratulations go to two Nomads who represented Canada in Las Vegas last weekend.

Lucas Hammond put in a number of strong performances for the Canadian National Senior Men’s Sevens team on the way to winning the Plate competition at the IRB World Sevens Series tournament. The march to the Plate Final included a nail biting overtime semi-final win over the USA before the team really clicked in the final to put Scotland away 22-5. Next stop for the Canadian men is the world famous Hong Kong Sevens from March 22-24.

Kelly Russell was a key performer for the Maple Leafs 1 squad who emerged as winners of the Las Vegas Invitational Cup. The Maple Leafs beat a squad of their own teammates 24-0 in the final, demonstrating the depth of talent in the Canadian women’s game at the moment. The Canadian women’s team is also headed to Asia at the end of March playing in the World Sevens Series tournament in Ghuangzhou, China from March 30-31.
