Here’s a recap on what happened last week, August 15, 2015

The 1st XV had an unexpected, gut-wrenching, waste of time draw. In some serious heat, the lead changed several times, Vu continuing with his try scoring form, adding to Captain Ron’s five pointer. Fish was feeling streamlined with the boot and kicked four penalties and converted one of the tries

The 2nds lost 28-26, Tal (3) and Trev getting the tries. Felix played the full 80 of this one after playing 80 for the thirds, but you couldn’t tell he’d been out in the sun all day as his work rate was second to none. Argentine import Tomas took over kicking duties from the woefully out of form Texas and slotted 3 from 4.

3rd XV played Mississauga and won handsomely. A hat-trick to J.Lo, and a try each to player of the day Felix and the Slumbering Sidestepper Remy gave the boys the win on the day. Special mention to the hard working front row of No Rule Nick, BLJ and BLK.

After last week’s win against Oshawa, the women XV brought their all against The Beach for the consolation final. The girls were short-numbered, with almost no subs standing on the sidelines, but despite this, they made The Beach work hard for their win. After two tries by Natalie Rosecky, five points from Jenn Russell and a fourth try by Maddy Biggs (as well as a conversion made by Emily Holmes), the girls ended up  losing 29-22. This marks the end of the women’s season.

It’s been a tough year for the girls, who really came together as the season came to a close. Here’s to hoping we pick up right where we left off this coming spring.

Last Sunday was also the Sixth Annual Ben Kippel Golf Tournament! It was a glorious sunny day as 53 Nomads, cover four generations ranging from 81 to 18 years old, competed in the Ben Kippel Golf Classic at Westview Golf Course. The competition on the golf course was intense, the Nomad banter was in full swing, Blue is the Colour bellowed from the patio and the post event meal at the Rose and Crown was superb. Thank you to all Nomads who attended the 6th annual Ben Kippel Classic. Look forward to seeing you next year!

Next Week!

It’s a bye week for the men, and the ladies are finished with their XV’s season, so enjoy the your rugby-less Saturday, folks!
