Junior Boys Review: An impressive season for all teams

Nomads Juniors followed up a strong 15s season with an impressive Fall 7s showing. Competing in the TRU Fall 7s series Nomads under 18 boys and under 16 boys teams consistently placed in the top three at tournaments. The under 18 boys capped off their season by winning the Ontario Provincial 7s championship. A Nomads Junior Boys’ team also travelled State Side to compete in the 58th annual New York Sevens tournament.

James Hammond was also selected to join the Canada U19 team. Hats off to him! The Nomads couldn’t be prouder.

Junior Girls Review : Building a team, building success

2016 saw the launch of a new U18 15s and 7s girls program at the Toronto Nomads, which consisted of 24 members from a wide range of high schools across Toronto. The Toronto Nomads were the only inner-city Toronto based club to field a 7s team during the fall. Lead by Lauren Wolman and Lauren Rudko, the program has exceptional support from the senior women’s program and the junior boys program. Our plans for 2017 are to grow the program through local engagement, to support our current membership through player development, which in turn will contribute to our success on the field.

For the first time ever we offered Fall Rugby for U10 and U8 players with the assistance of a new team of coaches that enabled us to keep the fun and energy going throughout the months of September and October.

U12s and U14s continued on with the Fall Metro Rugby Association (MRA) season much like last year as we brought together players from key Toronto clubs into a training program at Glendon College, alongside coaches from Upright and  participating clubs. Nomads Managers played formative administrative roles in the MRA and helped to build solid playing opportunities for both our U12 and U14 Nomads players who are pivotal to the success of their MRA teams.
