U10s & U8s Enjoy Beach Rugby Tourney to Cap Off Summer

Wednesday, September 27th, 2017

Our u10s and u8s had a heap of fun in the sun at this Balmy Beach invitational. Nomads, Cru and the Beach faced off in games of six v. six, with the Nomads able to put forwards four teams.

The kids even tapped into their inner All Blacks, as they performed the heck out the Hakka to close the afternoon.

U18 and U16 Girls teams both played at the TIRF 7s. The U16s did an awesome job of supporting each other and learning in each game. Special shout out to the 2 girls who played their first ever rugby games! The U18s made it to the Plate Final where they were defeated but laid a solid foundation for the next tournaments.

The girls head into another tournament this weekend and are recruiting new Nomads to join them! Know someone keen to try rugby, now is a great opportunity to give rugby a try! Girls 16–18 welcome, all that is needed is an enthusiastic attitude!

Thanks to all the parents who cheered and provided much needed cold drinks last weekend! It was appreciated!

Junior Summer Update

Friday, September 8th, 2017

Our grass roots rugby section has done amazing things this season.  Our U10s and U8s ended the season on a real high with a great day of flag rugby, under glorious conditions, at the Rugby Ontario Mini Festival held at our own home pitch, Fletcher’s Fields on Saturday, August 27th.  This followed on from a packed season with festivals hosted over the summer by Toronto City, Barrie, Georgian Bay Titans, Oakville Crusaders, Brantford Harlequins, Fergus Highlands and  Guelph Red Coats.

Our mini section has grown so much this year! We have a squad of 36 players now and its been so exciting to watch them grow their love for the game and their ability.

The minis have one more festival hosted by Balmy Beach on Saturday, September 24th so come and show your support.

The player of the year award is going to be a close call this year with so many excellent contenders.  The award goes to the player who is an example of all to follow: regularly trains, always tried their hardest and lives the Nomad’s values.  We will have to wait and see at the End of Season Banquet.

I would like to use this newsletter to thank our volunteers. First and foremost, our team of coaches for turning up, week in week out, rain or shine to promote minis rugby.  They are Brent, Mike, Erez, Ian and Anne.  Thank you.
