Nomads' Pudding Club Wednesday, July 12th

Gentlemen,

Time to book your ticket and get your wallets out for our fourth annual dinner honouring The Friends of Fletchers Fields: our very own Stan Woodburn and Roger Best as well as John Mead and Tony Moscrop of the Scottish. Between them they have over 100 years of unpaid voluntary work put in at Fletchers for the benefit of their clubs.

I think we should all show our appreciation by attending the dinner in their honour.

Tickets are $100 superb Italian meal and some wine included at Grano on Yonge Street.

Our ticket is waiting; please send me a cheque or e-mail to confirm your attendance. I know the Scottish will be there in numbers so let's show them what the Nomads can do.

The dinner is as always, by tradition, gentlemen only and jacket and tie. I still have a couple of pudding club ties for those who want one.

Any profit will result in a donation to the Nomads and Scottish juniors. A good time is assured for all.

Thank you Ben Kippel and Bruce Hill for buying your tickets already.

Cheers,

John Zimnoch

The Nomads 3rds play the Burlington 3rds at 7:00pm.

Despite 44 players heading up to Fletcher's on Thursday night, there are still more than 20 players available for Burlington.

The trip is not any easy one, so for anyone working downtown, the best way to get there is by GO train from Union Station to Appleby Station.

New Board for Fletcher’s Fields

Fletcher’s Fields Ltd. Press Release
May 18, 2006

Fletcher’s Fields is please to announce the new Board of Directors. Newly elected, the board comprised of the following individuals:

John Twomey – Aurora Barbs – President of FF
Juan Montecinos – At large – Vice President of FF
Fred Ball – Nomads – Secretary
Brett Domenchuk – Irish Canadians
Mike Williams – O.R.U
Doug Simpson – Toronto Scottish
Kristian Gravelle – Toronto Saracens
Glenn Tarver – At large Peter Murphy – At large
John Reich – At large

The Board of Directors wishes to extend their deep appreciation for the contribution of Past-President John Mead over the past 10 years. The Board also acknowledges the immeasurable contribution of Stan Woodburn over 40 years. These gentlemen continue to be an invaluable resource to the Board.

Fletcher’s Field continues to dedicate itself to serving its shareholder clubs and the rugby community at large. We want to ensure a solid facility where we can all enjoy our Saturdays.

Rugby will remain the primary focus of Fletcher’s Fields. In addition to club matches featuring Toronto Scottish, Irish Canadians, Toronto Saracens, Aurora Barbarians and Toronto Nomads, Fletcher’s Fields will also be hosting ORU high school tournaments, ORU representative games and training camps, Toronto Xtreme matches and practices as well as York Region and OFSAA high school rugby championships. Negotiations continue for the OUA rugby finals and the OCCA rugby finals.

The Board is very pleased to announce that renovations to the change room areas have been undertaken. The men’s and women’s change rooms, washrooms and showers have undergone major renovations.

Other major improvements include the renovation of the north bar area. The area will provide a clean, enjoyable atmosphere where clubs and spectators can congregate after matches. The area was painted, washrooms renovated, new carpeting installed and a fresh look provided.

The bar will feature products from our new beer sponsor, Steamwhistle Brewery. We are excited about this new relationship and the commitment from Steamwhistle to support Fletcher’s Fields rugby.

Patrons will also be able to enjoy an expanded menu provided by our new catering partner, Whose Catering, a first class food and beverage manager. These changes to Fletcher’s Fields will make the Saturday rugby experience more enjoyable and more conducive for hosting visiting sides. We invite all home clubs to take advantage of the catering facilities when hosting events.

Other minor cosmetic enhancements have also been completed in order to give a new refreshed face to facility. In order to continue this positive momentum, entrance fee will be unchanged for the upcoming year. We look forward to communicating with the rugby community in the coming months to provide additional details of our progress in building Toronto’s Home of Rugby.

This year we will be having one Kraal weekend and it is fast approaching (sorry for the late notice). The weekend is Feb. 24th, 25th & 26th.

Our usual itinerary is that we drive up Friday, have a few drinks. Saturday we wake up fairly early and make our way to the slopes, followed by a fantastic dinner and beverages. Sunday we head home.

This year I would like to see a great turn out from all men and ladies.

If you are not into the skiing or boarding not to worry still come on up and try out tubing or just come on up for the good times.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
$65.00 per person or $120 per couple for the weekend - this includes snacks, one dinner, two breakfasts, and accommodations!!

DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN ALCOHOL
It is for sale for a very cheap price.

If you would like to drink, a KRAAL CARD is for sale that you will purchase once at the KRAAL. The price of the card is $20.00 and it will get you 5 mixed drinks or 9 beers.
