Other Nomad Sports

The Toronto rugby season runs from April until November; once daylight savings begins, we get outside to train twice a week. Traditionally we kick off the season with the Easter Tour followed by a few weeks of friendlies. The league begins in mid-May and the women play straight through and finish in August. The men finish in September and have a knockout tournament in October, ending either just before or after Hallowe'en.

What to do in the off-season?!?!?

Well there are various other sports and activities over the course of the year...

NOTICE --> Hockey - NOTICE November 30th, 2007 <--- NOTICE

There has been a small but dedicated group of Nomads & friends of Nomads who have been playing shinny on Friday nights.

As this small group has been shrinking in numbers I have decided to cancel Nomads hockey after December 7th. Restarting will depend on the response I get and if I can rebook the ice.

I need your response NOW.

For the Nomads shinny to continue I need someone (or more than one) to collect and pay for the ice while I am away. I will be away about every other week in January & February.

How much would you be willing to spend for an hour of shinny $10, $15, $20?

E-mail me NOW. fball@torontonomads.com

Hockey- This is Canada after all! The Nomads have been playing shinny Friday nights at Forest Hill Arena since the late '60s! One and all are welcome; no experience is necessary. It usually begins in early October (October 12th in 2007) and goes until Easter, every Friday night from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. It's quite a sight with Englishmen, Irishmen, Aussies & Kiwis making their way (or struggling) up and down the ice!

Gridiron- Another old Nomad tradition is playing football throughout the winter regardless of weather! If you are hearty enough, the games are on Sundays from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
For now we will stick with our usual spot at Christie Pits (just outside Christie Subway station).

Indoor Soccer- Friday nights all winter at a venue in Etobicoke. Contact Baz - bwhite@dundeerealty.com for more details.
