TORONTO NOMAD WOMEN'S TEAM ANNOUNCE NEW COACH FOR 2008

The Nomads Women are pleased to announce Kyle Henderson as their new head coach for the 2008 season.

Kyle brings a wide range of experience as both a longtime player and coach, who last season coached the Ottawa Irish to win the Ontario Women's League (OWL) championship.

Moving back to Toronto from Ottawa, Kyle's goal for the Nomad Women's team is to "instill the passion and knowledge of rugby onto others through well structured training sessions with the intensity and dedication of champions."

Having coached teams in Canada the USA and Australia, Kyle brings years of coaching experience, as well as different perspectives to the game. Not only can Kyle pull from his breadth of coaching experience, but he also was a diverse player; throughout his career he played a variety of positions in both the backs and forwards.

Kyle currently works as a personal trainer and has achieved designation as a certified personal trainer, certified fitness consultant; he also holds a Smart Rugby certification. In addition he is has completed the National Coaching Certification Program Level 2.

The Nomad women are excited for the upcoming season and look forward to Kyle's vision for the team.

ABOUT THE TORONTO NOMAD WOMEN'S TEAM

The Toronto Nomads Senior Women run two teams and play in the Ontario Women's League (OWL), which is the top league in the province. During the season, training is Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm and games are on Saturdays, with the occasional Sunday game.

The season starts in May and ends in August; the pre-season is in April. The two teams play home and away together in back-to-back games, usually with 12:00pm and 1:30pm kick-offs. The 2nds play the earlier game and the first team is the more competitive side of the two.

No experience is necessary to play senior women's rugby: we will teach you all you need to know. With many experienced players and expert coaches, we will get you onto the rugby field in no time!

The Toronto Nomads Senior Women's program caters to all types:

January 21st, 2008

Well it looks like the Lady Nomads are getting ready to take the pitch again. With pre-season training just around the corner we are all excited to see the familiar faces and to welcome new ones!

The Nomads are proud to boast a new coach this season! We are looking forward to all the years of wisdom and ideas that are sure to add and bolster the Nomad community.

The Nomads would like to express our appreciation to our former coach Laurea, and women’s exec Christina and Vanessa for all their hard work! They will be greatly missed and we look forward to having them support us from the sidelines (and abroad).

This past season we had a great group of 40+ girls who came out, trained hard, and played harder. Our rookies and juniors definitely stepped up to the challenge and our veterans led the way as a true Nomad does.

We’re excited again to bring back the tradition of Princess of the Pitch. Keep checking back as we will be posting each week's Princess here.

The Princess of the Pitch awards are presented at the end of every game to the outstanding player, as decided by the coach.

A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to our sponsors: Western Union and Vera Wang.

Our sponsors greatly contribute to the success of this club and we are grateful for their ongoing support.

Remember that the Superbowl party is just around the corner so make sure you are all dusting off those rugby boots and party shoes as this year promises to go down in Nomad history! ?

Erin and Sikin (Club Captain and Director of Women’s Rugby)
