TORONTO NOMADS WOMEN START 2009 SEASON

The Toronto Nomads Women’s team is starting the 2009 season in great fashion.

We would like to first introduce you to your 2009 women’s executive; Ashley Rycroft will be this year Women’s Director and alongside her, Kathy ‘Taiter’ Tait will take on club captain, Michelle Baker will be your women’s social representative and Ariel Garneau will be representing our ever improving juniors.

We are also pleased to announce that our very own coach Kyle will be returning to coach us for this upcoming season. Kyle is anxiously awaiting the beginning of the rugby season, and is eager to get us back into game-shape as only Kyle can.

Last year we saw our ability as a team improve by leaps and bounds, however this year, with the new ELVs, a returning coach and a team full of solid talent, this season has the potential to be the most exciting women’s season to date.

Although it’s only February, the rugby season is fast approaching (YES! It’s just around the corner). We look forward to seeing everyone (new and returning players) out to indoor training soon. Stay tuned for more information.

Last year’s tour to Quebec City was also a GREAT success…soon to be followed up with another exciting women’s tour – dates and destination to be determined. Start saving girls!!!!!!

We’re also starting to plan our tour dates for 2010 as this will be the Nomad’s 60th anniversary and we’ll need to celebrate this exciting occasion in Nomad style

We look forward to seeing everyone out at training – and please please please don’t forget to dive on the ball!!!!!! (If you don’t know what I’m talking about then you better get yourself out to training…)

Cheers,

Ashley Rycroft, Women’s Director

Kathy Tait, Club Captain

ABOUT THE TORONTO NOMADS WOMEN'S TEAM

Pre-season indoor training begins in March and the season officially starts in May and finishes in August. The two teams play home and away together in back-to-back games, usually with 12:00pm and 1:30pm kick-offs. Typically, the 2nds play the earlier game followed by the 1st side.

No experience is necessary to play senior women's rugby: we will teach you all you need to know. With many experienced players and expert coaches, we will get you onto the rugby field in no time!

The Toronto Nomads Senior Women's program caters to all types:

  • Competitive players looking to play at the highest level: the Nomads have several players on Canada rosters as well as provincial representative players at all age-grade levels.

  • Players who want to learn and improve: the Nomad women have been running development sides and junior teams for many years and have produced a lot of great players during that time.

  • Players who want to stay active: fitness is the number one skill in rugby and joining the Nomads will ensure you remain as active as you want to be!

  • Players who want play rugby socially: the biggest reason any of us do this is for enjoyment. Having a good time all the time is the priority for all the Nomad teams. From training, to games, to the parties and especially on tour, the Nomad women are all about fun!
