SENIOR WOMENS RUGBY IN TORONTO
We play in the Toronto Rugby Union (TRU) and field two senior women teams—a competitive side (1st grade) and a developmental side (2nd grade). Generally, the two teams play home and away together in back-to-back games. Although we field two sides, we are ONE team and we train as such.
Our pre-season training begins indoor, once a week, in March and moves outside once the weather is a bit nicer. Once we’re outside, we train Tuesday and Thursday from about 6:30-8:00. The playing season officially starts in May and finishes in August, but we typically like to set up a few pre-season games to get warmed up. We play almost every weekend in the summer months, long weekends excluded. So, clear your calendar!
We currently have national and provincial level players on our senior roster and some other very seasoned players. However, we turn nobody away and welcome players of all skill level. No experience is necessary to play. We’ll teach you all you need to know.
While both divisions take their rugby very seriously, we also like to play hard off the pitch. Our club has a number of well attended social functions throughout the year and generally heads up one not-to-be-missed rugby tour each summer.
With the Nomads, you’ll not only find a team that welcomes all that you have to offer but a group of women you will soon be calling your friends.
